Can anyone look over my spec and see if I should continue with nursing please..?

I took a year off to take care of family emergencies.

And since nursing is more secure in terms of getting a job,

I stuck to it and have been studying.

I am a junior in college, got a full ride scholarship,

but still wasn't enough for the room& board (+ need to help out my mom, cancer patient, no insurance), that I worked 25+ hrs a week (for past 3yrs)

along with average of 14 credit hour school load.

For the past year since I've taken some time off, I've been working full time to pay off some debts, save money for remaining yrs of college, volunteered as a interpreter in both hospitals and schools.

However, it's hard to keep my priorities straight, that at times I put work over school. So I'm left with 3.2 cum gpa, but A's in most of the pre req's.

Now, with my spec, is it impossible to get into traditional BSN nursing school? I know it's late, but if I have a chance, I would like to keep trying.

I guess I'm so stressed out these days. I want to be a normal 21 yr old but I'll have fun once I graduate I guess.

Any advice is very appreciated. I'm so desperate. Thanks

Are you more worried about whether you will be able to get in to nursing or that once you are in you will be able to handle it with all of the other things you have going on?

It really depends on the school, but there are many schools where a 3.2 is not too bad to get accepted. I would inquire with the particular schools you are looking into.

As far as whether it is the right time for you to go now or not - that is up to you, but it really seems like you might need to take a little break. You are dealing with a lot right now, and to throw nursing school on top of it it might be too much.

But yeah, you can sure find a school to get into (maybe a waiting list though)

good luck!

I got into a decent nursing program with a 3.2 cumulative GPA and Bs/Cs in most of my pre-requisites. It's definitely possible. But I agreed with the above saying that you've got alot on your plate and when you're in nursing school...nursing school takes priority because it's tough stuff!

I think it all depends how bad you want it.

sounds like you've got the brains, and the :redbeathe, now all you need is the confidence. I beleive in you.

This may not ne your thing, but whom or what ever you pray to ask guidence. Praying always seems to help me center myself.

Good luck!
