Can anyone help me with post-nursing school plans?

Published

As most of you know i'm from the US. I'm enrolled in an Associates Degree in Nursing program. After I finish, I would like to go to an 18 month course Midwife school in England. Can anyone help me figure out how to go about this? I'm not rich, I would like to find sponsorship or scholarships. Can anyone list any programs? Thank you so much.

Hi,

I dont think you would be able to get either but if you contact Southampton University school of midwifery and nursing http://www.soton.ac.uk and try to get in touch with a person called Mary Foss, she may be able to help you.

You may need to live and work in UK before they would consider you. You will need to get in touch with the NMC to see the requirements for working in UK and how to register your qualification, or contact a hospital to see if they will sponser you to work as nurse in UK. You may have to consolodate your nurse training In US before coming here.

Is an Associates degree considered a Bachelor's in the UK? They take about the same amount of time to complete.

Hi,

I really dont know I believe it is the same as an Advanced Diploma, but I could be wrong.

I think I am right in saying BSC honours degree here is higher than what you call you Associate degree.

Absolutly nothing I have been an RN for 15 yrs , I trained 3yrs and 3 months just to be RN, I have had an Honours Degree for 3 years since 2002 and it hasnt made a scrap of difference to anything, apart from me remembering the stress of doing the Degree lol :) No more money, no more resect NADA.

I wouldnt worry about what kind of certificate/degree you have only that you did 3 yrs training.

Kay the other one :)
