Can anyone help me to decide which school i should go ?!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello. I am an international student.

I just found this website and read lots of posts. This website is so helpful !

Currently, I got accepted into UCLA and SDSU for BSN. I am an international student so i have to pay a lot of tuition for both schools. Of course UCLA is more expensive than SDSU. I can't decide which school i should go....

Personally I want to go to UCLA but it is so much money to pay as an international student. Some nurses in my hospital i am volunteering told me that at the end it is going to be same regardless you graduated from UC school or Cal state school as long as you passed NCLEX.

I don't know if i am right. But when you are in a nursing program, you work in several hospitals for clinical classes and

it is most likely to work in a hospital where you took clinical classes. So if i go to SDSU, there would be more possibility that i would find a job there and live there. Am i right? So that is why i do not want to go to SDSU but rather go to UCLA because i want to live around LA.

Does anyone advise me if i am thinking correctly or not? ...

I have to make a decision by this June 1 and i do not know anyone to ask.

Thank you !

Although it may not apply for a nursing program but UCs are generally better funded than the CSUs. I graduated from a UC for my first degree and had access to various services and my classes weren't cancelled on a moments notice while people I know that went to CSUs had some issues. Again, those weren't nursing programs but there was definitely a difference between my experience and those I knew that went to a CSU (for the most part SDSu but others as well)

taking clinicals at a hospital and working for them is going to be two different choices... I am taking classes near my home where there is a half dozen hospitals between there and where I work now... in the end I am going to stay here... in the end it will depend on what you want... go 2 years for associates then do online for bachealors then advance from there... check the hospitals you want to work at... are they hiring associate degrees or do you have to have bachealors? Hope this helps

Thank you for reply ! I talked to a nursing student in a hospital where i am volunteering. She told me that it is most likely to get hired from where you have clinicals if you are outstanding student. So my question is that if i go to SDSU, it is going to be hard to find a job in LA than SD ?

I would say so... sorry I misread your post...I unfortunetly have to do my clinicals outside of where I work... keep your head up though... get a year experience and you could transfer to a LA hospital...
