Can anyone give me an idea of how much financial aid I can receive?

Published

I will be starting at National University in August with my science classes, anatomy, biology etc. (then applying for the generic BSN program) I do not work and have 2 children. Last years income was approx 10,000. I know they base it on last years income which for me was next to nothing!!!

I'm just curious to know what anyone else has received as far as financial aid that doesn't need to be repaid as a full-time student. I haven't heard anything back and I start August 30, so i'm getting a little nervous. Thanks for your answers in advance:)

I live in California. So did you have to apply for each grant separately, or did Fafsa determine which grants you qualify for?

Your quote from the school seems about right.

FAFSA determines which grants you qualify for and your school will automatically give them to you. This year the max is $5500 for pell.

I made 19k last year, have one child and I received $19k in loans and $5500 in pell and my school has their own grant that they gave which was $1000.

I can't give you specifics for your situation (obviously :lol2:) but I can give you a look at what my financial aid package was in school. I didn't work, am married, and had 2 kids. Our yearly income was around the $36K range and my school was approximately $5,000 a semester for entry level BSN. My freshman and sophmore year I did receive enough financial aid through Stafford loans and Pell to cover my tuition and books, with maybe a few hundred left over for myself. My junior and senior year I had enough in loans and grants to cover a big portion of our living expenses in addition to paying for tuition/books. Of course, I have to pay them all back, but they are federal loans that have a low interest rate and I do not have to repay until December.

Hi all,

I was wondering if the financial aid that national university provides isn't enough what type of student loan can I get to cover the extra costs and where can I get this type of loan. I'm currently completing my prereqs at NU and the aid doesn't cover the entire tuition amount for my first year.

Thanks!
