I need to know what medically happends when someone has the wind knocked out of them. How long does is usually take for them to be able to breath correctly and does it damage the lungs or anything...thanks guys!

lol heather thats so true! My brother once punched me in my stummy when i was about 7...cant exactly member why but i know it hurt!

Diaphragmatic paralysis is self limiting because once you relax after passing out from hypoxia the diaphragm has to relax too, and you will automatically take a breath. However, in a fistfight the other guy may have killed you by some other means by then, so it is not a recommended ailment.
