I could hold an emesis basin for a patient and then turn around and have chop suey or chicken a la king, no problem.

In nursing school during surgical clinicals, we discussed the procedure we had just seen while eating lasagna for lunch.

Most nurses know there is nothing at all odd about this.

Onion may have expected readers to be shocked and/or grossed out, but us nurses are, like, "PPppfffftttt! Yeah, and so what?"

Of course the story's fake. Like she's going to get a lunch break! She's going to have to score something when she gets off duty. After her charting's done. If no one calls a code while she's still charting. And no one calls in sick at the last minute...
