So its obvious from my previous post that I'm a single mother trying to become a nurse and I'm in need of some POSITIVE direction! Ive been with my current job 4 yrs and plan to start the nursing program aug 2015. My job won't allow me to go part time so i plan on seeking a part time job. Being that my kids will be 4 and 5 yrs old when i start it just seems like ill be in over my head trying to work! Pls can i have some advice from SINGLE mothers who were in my similar situation as to how you all managed to get through nursing school. In advance i appreciate the time you take to comment and thanks in advance. Even if you only drop by to offer words of encouragement thanks so much

It can be done it will be a sacrifice but it will fly by and you will feel so accomplished. I am a single mother the first semester I tried to make it through but it became tough since I had just got a divorce and started nursing school.. I have an amazing support team and my mother stepped in and helped me tremendously.. My son was 3.. I graduate in May from an ADN program and he will be turning 5 in a couple days...
Some days will be hard and u will feel like quitting don't.. Remember why you're doing it and keep pressing on.. You will meet amazing people that will help you through.. Hope this is encouraging..!!! Good luck

Def can be done... I had a 5 year old and found out I was pregnant again.. Had baby that Thursday , and was back Monday for finals.. Survived the last 8 months of nursing school as a single mom! Worked ft 3--11.. Don't get discouraged.. Stay determined and look in the eyes of those sweet babies and see y it must and can be done!!
Wow working full-time while in nursing school that's amazing thanks to you both for the encouragement

I was completely single when I went through...I took the unconventional and heartbreaking approach. I sold my house and everything in it and just put a few things in storage. I moved in with my parents with my one child which allowed me to not work. I moved out as soon as I was done. This saved me thousands. It's hard and being older and moving back in but it was worth it.

I am a single mom who is starting the program in the fall. I have been doing my prereqs for the last year. It's hard but I enjoy the challenge. My son is 8 and is in competitive judo. Some days I feel like all I do is run. My schedule on Monday's goes kinda like this; 6AM get up and shower, 6:30 get boy up and cook breakfast, 7:15 run boy to bus, 9am first class, noon shovel in some food, 1pm next class until 4, run up and pick up boy from bus, 4:30 judo practice, 8pm finally get home and cook dinner and get boy's homework done, 11 pm finally get into bed. I have to schedule everything and I study in the dojo or on the road most weekends. What keeps me motivated? My son and knowing I am doing this for us.
Just when you think you are sacrificing so much to achieve your dreams there always someone that had to sacrifice even more and do it without complaining makes me humble myself... I've been in the working system since I was 16 became a young parent and decided to do something to make them proud kuddos to us chasing our dreams when all odds are against us
