Call out to Houston Tx Nurses......

Okay,, I love you all here.. and I am calling out to my fellow nurses in Houston Texas for a very important question.

Does anyone here know what hospitals in Houston have insurance that pays for weight loss surgery/gastric bypass/etc?

My hospital has an exclusion in their policy and I have now decided that if I have to look for a new job just to get the insurance to pay for this,, then that is what I will do.

I have gone through so many diets,, so much grief over this, and I feel like this is my last chance to do something that will help save my life. Please, if there is anyone out there that knows something, or knows someone that might know a hospital/employer that pays for this sort of thing,, let me know..

I got Gastric Bypass surgery in 2005. At that time, I worked @ the Methodist Hospital. United Healthcare Ins. covered the surgery, but be aware that you must have documentation of co-morbidities related to obesity to qualify for the surgery. Hope this helps....Any questions, just ask!:specs:

The Surgeon you see for this is also VERY important in getting coverage from your insurance holder. The Surgeon I used had an incredible group of people who SPECIALIZED in dealing with reluctant insurance cos. that don't like to pay for this type of thing. If you would like a Surgical recommendation........I can do that too!:up:

:nurse:I know someone who works for DaVita and had the gastric bypass done. Don't know anymore details but that.
