Hi everyone! My name is Monica and I wanted to make this forum for everyone applying to the fall 2021 semester of CSUN ABSN. Good luck everyone ?
OMG Im in total disbelief! I've been accepted to the Fall 2021 cohort. Just signed my SIRPAF contract! This has been one wild roller coaster. The highs and lows I've experienced during this application cycle as I'm sure many of you have as well, has created unwanted anxiety and a touch of PTSD. However, I'm incredibly grateful! Thank you JESUS, that the journey is finally about to start!
I'm praying for those that didn't receive their acceptance, that God will lead your heart to the program he has in store for you! You will become a Nurse, in Jesus name Amen!
As for anyone that was accepted to the Fall 2021 cohort, have you completed your FASFA yet? I completed mines and saw that I had money left from my previous undergrad grants from several years ago. I never knew that was still available. Does anyone know if the balance can be applied to this ABSN program AND are we eligible for additional grants towards a 2nd bachelors degree?
I know Graduate degrees aren't eligible for grants, but is their a MAX amount in grants a student can cap out at regardless if its a 1st or 2nd bachelors degree?

Hi! Congrats!
From my understanding, you cannot receive anymore grant (free) money after you complete your 1st bachelors degree. The cap on the federal pell grant is 6 years & the cap on CalGrant is 4 years. However, even if you did not use all of these years of grant money.. you cannot receive them as this is your 2nd bachelors degree.
I hope this helps!

I was admitted for Fall 2021 and I'm excited to connect with other members of the cohort! I made a facebook page if anyone is interested in learning more about each other. Maybe out-of-area people can also connect to make plans to move into the area!

Looks like this is the official FB group for our cohort, how exciting?
I live in the Los Angeles area and looking into different ways to commute. I guess my commute will ultimately depend on the class schedule, how many days per week we meet and clinical hours. Haven't really considered moving to the Valley either off campus or living in the Dorms just yet. What about you all, have anyone put any thought into their living situation?

Wow, thanks for this info! Will definitely do some more research. I had some specific nursing scholarships I wanted to apply for earlier this year but they required an acceptance letter and unfortunately the deadline passed before I received the good news.
