Hey ya'll just wanted to start the topic for Cal State Long Beach Fall 2024 Nursing Applications. I previously got rejected (from waitlist) from Long Beach for the Spring semester so I'm taking a gap semester and hoping to get in this Fall. I know Long Beach doesn't consider service outside military but I did mention I'm working as an EMT during my interview which I believe helped me a little in the communication exercise. Feel free to share your own stats and goodluck everyone!

(I applied in the Spring with a 90.1 overall and a 79 reading so I recently retook it this December and these are my current stats)

Science GPA: 4.0

Gen ED GPA: 4.0

TEAS Cumulative: 94.2%

TEAS Reading: 94%

Impact Score: 9.764

Impact Score Formula: (Science GPA) + (Gen ED GPA/2) + (TEAS Overall x .02) + (TEAS Reading x .02)

They sent out communication decisions right now!

Basically two parts:

1. Watch a video and respond to the prompt they give you (usually a quick paragraph or two) on a Google doc and email it to the SON.

2. Group Breakout room with other people. The interviewer of that breakout room will ask each applicant a single personality/character question and you have two minutes to respond to your question.

Can u give us an example of a question they asked?

what time did y'all get scheduled for the interview? do you guys think it is according to your impact score? like 9.7ones would get scheduled early?

I got 9am, I don't think this is the case though maybe it's random.

I remember reading that one person who knew they were lower in the rankings was scheduled for the second day so there might be a correlation.. I also heard that the communication exercise doesn't hold that much weight (that they're just checking that you understand english).. meaning that whether we're already in or not has already been largely predetermined.

... which makes sense seeing how they're only asking one question. If part of the vetting process was to figure out if we were the "right" candidates (personality-wise), this would be a "legitimate" interview. Instead, by asking us one question, it seems like the purpose of this exercise is to confirm we're "competent" English speakers. BUT if I'm wrong please call me out on it.

Also I have a few questions I compiled from other users:

1. Why did you decide to get into Nursing?

2. Who influenced you to get into Nursing?

3. Why did you choose CSULB?

4. What did you do during the Summer?

5. Name a time you helped someone overcome a difficult time period.

6. What qualities make a good Nurse?

7. How has the prerequisites prepared you for this Major?
