What can the California BON "legally" require from you? I had a friend who was asked for a copy of her passport but I don't see this as a requirement anywhere on the application. So my questions remains. What can they legally require me to provide when applying to take the NCLEX in California? I don't have a problem providing the information if it's legally required but I have a problem with being asked to do things that are not being required from anyone else. What's to stop them from asking for my first born?

I would say legally they can only ask for what they state on their website. Some states may require a copy of passport to verify you are who you say you are and may even be checking that you have legal residency in the US. If I was your friend I would probably be clarifying with them why they require the copy as nothing is stated on the website that it is a requirement

When I went and took my NCLEX exam they stated that we can either show our DL, or a valid passport, and neither can be expired. They need a picture ID, and that's why they ask for either of those. It's required even if you're a permanent resident, naturalized citizen, or an international applicant.
