Hi there! I would like to ask for opinions regarding application for CA license by endorsement as I am planning to apply for travel jobs there..

1) For out of state applicants, how long did you get the HARDCARD for fingerprint after you requested it online?

2) Since CA is not a walk-through state anymore, if I go to Board of Registered Nursing in California and get live fingerprinting in CA, how long before I can get a temporary license?

Thanks for the input :)

My friend went on a Tuesday and had their temp on Friday

I did Livescan and definitely recommend it, as does the Board; I think the cards take something like six weeks to arrive.

I applied for the card, got it in a week. Everyone tells me its 2 months for the card to process. I hope sooner though. I would do a live-scan if I absolutely have to just to get my CA license faster.

Can you even still get a temp if you walk in? I thought you can do that do that until your fingerprint is processed.

Hey there, I made my account on here today in hopes of finding more information about becoming an RN in California. I'm from California and still have proof of residency, but I'm currently in nursing school in Kansas City, MO. (with 3 months to go!) I don't know if I need to take the boards here first since I went to school here, and no one at my University seems to be able to help me figure this out. I've been doing a good amount of research on this and have found similar results. The "walk-through" only works if your fingerprints are already sent in and approved by the BON and FBI. Also, I found a link that explains the requirements for a temp license. This helped a little, but as for my main dilemma, I'm still racking my brain. If you could help, I'd appreciate it!

You can take the boards anywhere, regardless of where you're applying for licensure. You can physically sit them in MO for an application in CA. You do not need to obtain an MO license first. You do not need proof of CA residency.

I'm surprised your school couldn't tell you this.
