Kaiser, UCSD, Balboa (Navy)-and yes they have civilian CRNAs, Paradise Valley, and possibly others about which I am not aware

Has anyone else experienced this? I have never head of this before.

cali will never opt out, but it employs tons of crna's, fresno has a giant all crna group.

In Fresno, but in So. Cal. it's the VA, KP, or military. When I worked PACU there were no CRNA's. I worked in two hospitals in San Diego, and three in Riverside. If anyone mentioned CRNA's they were black listed by the MDA's. If a RN knew to much about anesthesia or PACU she/he was black listed by the MDA's. The California Medical Association (CMA) is working hard to get rid of all APN's. I know this because I know a member a the CMA, did not know I was a RN. The CMA works with some of the medical movie makers out in California. Why do you all think nurses are depicted so poorly in those medical shows?

The AMA is trying to limit types of providers (APN"s/PA's) who can provide care to patients. The ANA is fighting this, but the future of nursing is not bright. If nurses of all levels of education don't stick together, and put a stop to the distruction of our profession,well all that great education and $$$ spent getting it will be of no use to anyone.

There are quite a large number of jobs in California and all of the CRNAs in those positions are happy and proud.

I'll agree with half of what you are saying. I'm doing my clinicals in a county hospital in southern california and the job market for CRNAs in southern california sucks. As far as RNs and the state of california, the california nurses association is probably a close second to the mafia as far as pull and power in legislature. I have never seen the overtime laws in any other state that they have here in cali. An RN making in the 6 figures is not uncommon. Plus, hospitals can easily get reported if RNs don't get the breaks they are supposed to or work too much. Not bad for a minimum of an associate's degree.

not that bad for kaiser crna's either, show up at 7, morning break, lunch break, afternoon break, go home at 3, not bad.

Whats up with the bad job market for CRNAs in SoCal? When I left little over a year ago my friends who were CRNAs had no problems finding jobs. Have a lot of the MDs decided they want to work with MDAs instead or what?

SoCal is where I plan on moving after graduation and was hoping the job market would still be favorable.

In So. Cal. I have seen doctors hit, and spit on nurses, not to mention the name calling. I have also seen patients neglected, and if the nurse did not put up a fight for that patient, the patient would have a bad outcome.

All the unions, and CNA did nothing to stop this. All they want is the $$$.

In 2003 the CEO of a hospital in California, refused to stop physical abuse against nurses, stating - "the doctors bring the money to this hospital, the nurses don't."

We moved out of state, and to a better world. There are CRNA's, and NP's in every hosptial out here. I would never live in California again-
