California CNA testing

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I am planning to be CNA tested in California at the end June 2011.

Can anyone give me some helpful hints or pointers as I prepare to take the CNA test. I guess I am more nervous than anything and want to use my time wisely preparing for the test. I realize there is two parts of the test...written and hands on.

English is not my primary language and I am a little nervous about the wording in the written test.

Is the written test mostly multiple choice or t/f or vocabulary?

I have had some trouble getting blood pressure and pulse...and that makes me especially nervous too.

The California DMV tests were a little tough but I did at last pass. I just want to be ready.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

OK well im in san deigo...... And on the written test it is all multiple chose, meaning A,B,C,D

It was very easy One of my class mates was from Erthrea he can speak very limited

english and he passed! If your concerned about your english then you can request the

oral exam Which is the actual written test in front of you and also headphones that read the test to you as well so you can read it and hear it.

The skills was hard for me..... memorize every step read over and over your skill sheet and practice your skills.

I could never hear B/P but there is a trick around it you can do it just be watching the little needle when you first see it "jump" thats the first number then at the bottom number when you see that it is no longer jumping thats the number

Dont be nervous be confident that your going to pass. Take your time dont rush think clearly and you will pass

I've read that starting July 5th they will no longer be testing blood pressure as a skill. I'm not sure if this is true or not, has anyone else heard this? I live in Tampa Bay FL, I'm not sure if this is a regional thing or not.

Interesting... I'm in CA and my test is tomorrow with the American Red Cross.

I know that you can be off by 8 mmHg.
