California Career College LVN program

Published

Hello,

Has anyone out there attended California Career College on Owensmouth in Canoga Park, CA for their LVN program? I'm thinking of enrolling to their LVN program but I would like more information on their program. If you did attend, did you have a hard time passing the NCLEX exam after completion? Any information on the program is appreciated. Thank you.

I have not attended the Career College, however, a few fellow student in my class have. They dropped and entered the LVN program at Concorde Career College. One said that she dropped the class after a semester as she wasn't getting any instruction, rather she was having to self-teach. The other student wasn't happy with his overall experience at Career College. Investigate the school very closely before spending alot of money to be less than satisfied.

Good luck

So, apparently this school is accredited by the CA BRN and only for this reason I decided to call for information. I am a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 4 years now and want to do a bridge program, for the past 3 years I have had hardships in life that had required me to withdrawal out of my classes at a community college bUT ended up retaking as life allowed, and for this reason I don't qualify for a bridge program locally (they only allow 1 repeat)

Hence -the reason for this school's inquiry.

I had to make an appointment to speak to the owner/ administrator?, so I went regardless of all the bad reviews I read, I must admit I wasn't going to show to the appointment but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I met with the an older- lady that checked me from head to toe without trying to cover it up- which she didn't even give her name, we sit at a table, and she asks "why are you here?" I began to explain that I would like information about the RN program she says "you have to be an LVN" So I continue to explain how I have been for the past 4 years and so she says "let me see your transcripts" I pull them out and she says these are not official transcripts, I was a little bothered by this because no one told me to bring official transcripts for an informational meeting, but either way i can't get official transmits because my vocational school closed 2 years ago she said that if my old school closed then they were a bad school and how it mustve been an easy school but infact they were accredited while i attended and still 2 yrs later and they ended up closing. So then she says "why do you want to come here?", I told her my situation regarding my withdrawals and disqualification from the community college route and she SMILED! I asked her if there was a requirements list or any information about the program and she said that they don't have that ready yet!?

That's when I was positive that I was wasting my time and all the reviews were right about the scam this "college" is doing to the student.

So then she continued to say that requirements for this school are not easy and how it's not going to be easy as I think it is, I told her I didn't think this school was going to be easy since they are accredited by the board and then she asked about my financial aid from the past "how did you pay for college? How are you going to pay for school?" I could not believe the nerve of this lady! I have a GI BILL

I told her and she said oh and what about work? At this point all wanted to do was get up and leave, so I basically had to tell her that I understand once I start the nursing program it would not be easy to work would have to be minimal to none, switching concerns, would you take my college credit taken so far? I have 30+units and she said that they would only take 10 credits, I got up thanked her for her time and left,

(These were my classes completed with C and above that are nursing related:

Biology

Sociology

Psychology

Psychology Life Span

College level math

English 101

Anatomy with lab

Microbiology with lab

Chemistry

Political science

*NEED TO COMPLETE PHYSIOLOGY WITH LAB

AND SHE TOLD ME THEY WERE ONLY GOING TO TAKE 10 CREDITS OF MY WORK COPLETED AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE!

IF SHE DIDN'T WANT ME IN THAT SCHOOL IT COULD BE BECAUSE I AM TOO PUT TOGETHER TO EVEN FALL FOR HER BS

Glad I left

Be ware!

Hi love

i have an information session this Friday.

Question: you mentioned that you have to be an lvn for their Rn program?

I don't know if you need to be an LVN but she did ask if I was one, I went for information and ended up in an interrogation. I had and "information Session" as well but i was the only one.

Goodluck tho.

I've attended the California Career College in 2012. It is now 2017 and I am struggling passing NCLEX-PN exam. I don't have to go through onto details about this vocational school and how/why I keep failing the state exam. This nursing school is very very toxic starts from the owner/teacher. And it is ALMOST impossible to be able to concentrate on a subject that matters. The point is, do your research on google, yelp, YP, etc.. about the school's reputation. Use keyword: Califonia Career College reviews. Avoid referring to their main website. As always, a company will have good things to say about their teaching skills and accomplishments. This to be far beyond from reality. I can guarantee you will find what you are looking for if you broaden up your research about California Career College in Canoga Park. Best of Luck To You in your nursing endeavors.
