CABON Application for NCLEX filed under International instead of Out of State

Published

I am applying to take my NCLEX in California and I went to nursing school in Maryland so I am an out of state applicant. My application to take the NCLEX for CABON was filed under "International" rather than "Out of state".

I have been calling CABON since early June to make the changes to my file to reflect that I am "out of state" and I was advised to just wait. It is now early August and my file has been reviewed by the international licensing department on 6/29 and the changes have not been made, despite my repeated calling.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and I was looking for some insight on how to navigate this.

Thank you!

If possible, you could go to the board’s decision directly. They are open (I was there last week). You can probably get better help.

but if you are not in California at the moment. What did they say after they reviewed your application? Were there any deficiencies?

Hi Michelle,

After they reviewed my application, although my application was marked 3 times for to be changed to "out of state", it was still reviewed as International and my file was updated with deficiencies such as needing to turn in some international paperwork.

Anyways, it was all resolved now actually as of yesterday and refund is on the way ? For anyone else that may find themselves with this issue, just keep calling until the changes have been made. The licensing representative should email their supervisor to make the changes and CC the analyst that has reviewed your file to change it to international to out of state.
