CA Schools offering programs for MS/OB deficiencies

Hi,

This is for internationally educated nurses (IENs) who applied for the licensure examination in California and have been denied due to concurrency issues and are interested in taking additional course work to fulfill the medical-surgical nursing and obstetrics deficiencies.

I would like to make a list of schools that offer programs for those deficiencies. If you have tried contacting schools and are successful in getting information for such programs, please mention them here and any other details. Also those schools that you contacted and do not offer anything can be listed as well so others know not to try those schools anymore.

In essence, this will hopefully make it alot easier for us trying to research and contact schools instead of going back and reading post by post what others have said. I know alot of us are in the same situation right now and it's quite frustrating. But its gotten easier knowing that we are not alone. With this, I hope we can help each other out and share our knowledge.

Anyway, these are the schools that I know of so far, based on what I have seen on a few threads:

CSU Fresno - This is somewhat confirmed in that the program has yet to be approved.

San Francisco State University (SFSU), National University, and Mount Saint Mary's College (MSMC) have been mentioned in other threads. I have contacted SFSU, but they made no mention of programs for just those two courses and that you would need to be a full time student enrolled in the actual BSN program. I am not sure about National University and MSMC. To anyone who has inquired at these schools, please let us know how that went.

I believe only 30 students will make the cut. I really hope I'm one of them ;)

Is that for 30 foreign students or the total including their regular enrolled local students mixed in as well?

In any case, YES, hope you get picked and able to complete your deficiencies, you would be the FIRST person in CA, I think!! Good luck!!

Oh, so sorry you didn't get in, makes you wonder how many other applicants didn't get in either? Did they give any sort of numbers who applied?

Well one other option is to do what SoCalNurse88 did to just get her ATT in CA and another poster's friends who also got their CA ATT's and all soon to take the NCLEX-RN soon. Here's what they did to get their foot thru the CA BON's door: https://allnurses.com/world-nursing/received-att-california-832461.html

No they didn't, they told me to apply again this November but i need to look for other school ASAP. Do you know any other schools? Thanks for the thread i'll check it out

hi everyone! has anybody tried to call California Baptist University and put their names on the lists for the BRN course deficiency students? they are wiling to open Med-surg and OB classes when they reach their DESIRED NUMBER of foreign nurses that are interested to enroll, thats the time they are going to open the said classes. so yeah, like all of you guys I've been trying to call and inquire each and every school under the list of approved schools of BRN, and so far this is the only school who can possibly help us. there's no harm in trying, it's worth a try for those aspiring nurses who still hoping to accomplish the RN licensure in California.

You can call this school and just put your names on the list and wait 'till when they can open the classes for foreign nursing graduates.

Hi! im just wondering if anyone has started ms and ob class? just wondering if you already found school that is willing to enroll BRN deficiencies? :)

Certainly good news, but I think this school is a private college and if so, the tuition cost could be like the other privatized ones, which is just too cost prohibitive. The other private ones "start" at $7,000 plus to up to $14,000 for the course. What's the cost mentioned as this will either draw others to enlist or simply wait for something else that's much cheaper. The books and supplies expenses should be known to the best of knowledge.

Did the dean mention the class size just for IEN's?
