You need to apply for a nursing license by examination as an internationally educated nurse and submit a CES report from CGFNS . You pay CABRN a fee to transfer your pass results to NJBoN.

i just read the application form for license by examination in new jersey.. it says i need to provide ssn. failure to do so will result in denial of licensure. what should i do?

Wait until you have a social security number before applying. NJ is just following the federal mandate that no professional license is to be issued without a candidate providing a valid for work SSN. This has been a mandate for several years yet states have been slow to implement. CA , AZ, VT, MD are a few of the states following the federal directive. Other states like FL will let you apply but won't issue a license until a valid SSN is presented.

i dont get it.. how can i get ssn if im here in the philippines? who will issue me ssn? calif or nj?

Simple answer is you cannot get a social security number until you are 1. A US citizen, 2. Legal permanent resident or 3. Have a valid work visa and have been authorized by US Dept of Homeland Security.

No state has the power to issue a SSN. Only the social security administration can grant a SSN.

Until you are qualified for a SSN you are not eligible for a nursing license in the states that require a SSN/have implemented the federal mandate (NJ, CA, AZ, MD, VT, FL and others)
