CA licensure by endorsement

Published

Hello everyone, I am finishing up prerequisites for nursing school and choosing programs to apply to. A couple nurses I have spoken to have told me that if I want to work in California but plan to get my degree out of state, I need to make sure that the out state program is CA board approved. It has been challenging find information on this! According to the board website (404 Not Found

"To qualify for endorsement (reciprocity) into California as an RN, you must hold a current and active RN license in another U.S. state or Canada, have completed an educational program meeting all California requirements, and have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) or the State Board Test Pool Examination (SBTPE)."

What does it mean to "have completed an educational program meeting all California requirements," and how can I make sure the programs I'm looking at (all are CCNE accredited by the way) meet the CA requirements? I have been all over the website and made inquiries to the CA BRN with no response yet.

I don't want to get a degree and then find out the state of CA won't recognize it!

Any feedback is appreciated!

Thanks,

Sean
