CA License came thru, but will I get hired?

Published

I'm a 24 year old female with 2 years of medical-surgical experience. I hold a bachelor's in the unrelated political science field and an associate's in nursing. I am ACLS and BLS certified.

My California license recently came through and I'm a bit apprehensive about the uncertainty in employment. I am open to anywhere in California and in any field or discipline, if it broadens my prospects, especially. In terms of marketability and being competitive, am I looking at some challenges or obstacles to overcome? I realize in progressive states like CA, the bachelor's degree is now the standard, but I'm sure there's some wiggle room?

Thank you!

Your bachelor's in another field means nothing, but your two years of experience will easily land you a job. I'm in Southern California and have had no difficulty finding work with my ADN. The only difficulty would come from wanting to work in the "biggest" hospital in the "most desirable" specialty. Med/surg jobs are a dime a dozen.
