CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

Yeah since a local license is a requirement in some states it's really important. Being an american citizen is a plus but it won't help you out all the way if you can't provide the needed requirements for a state. Some states see a person with a license from where they were trained as a way to see that the nurse applying is competent enough to practice in the country they were trained.
But im applying in california. Is their new requirement a local license? Thankyou so much!!!
I have no doubt that the courses being offered by the CSU-Fresno campus will get their 30 students and not surprised if it becomes a waiting list. But the main thing is does anyone signing up have any idea on the cost to attend, I'm figuring just the

tuition fees? If it exceeds a certain dollar amount in my case, then, it's not going to work for me. If it's too expensive, then I would suspect that many on the sign up list will also drop out. We all know there's going to be a cost to enroll but at what price?

Those who had signed up meaning they already had an idea on how much it will cost them, and it doesn't mean that if you find it to be too expensive others on the signed up list will drop out too..others will grab that chance even how expensive it is just to do the things that is best for them..everyone have different way on how to approach their concurrency problem with CABON.

Oh yeah u told me about that. You think it'll really push through? Keeping my fingers crossed all day man :)

Yeah I'm very positive it will push through. Unless CA BRN changes their mind and says "no you can have this program in your school, we won't accept it" then that might be the only reason. The director already said it's been approved by the CA BRN so the only thing we are waiting for is the requirements and the process of getting into the program.

I have to agree with steppybay that some schools specially private schools are pretty expensive and it's almost 10,000 plus dollars. I'm expecting CSU Fresno's program to be near the somewhat affordable range because it is a public school, but recently I've seen from the news that CSU Fresno may be increasing some tuition fee's due to the economy. It's one reason why the director can't give an exact price of the program. But I'm still expecting a more affordable tuition compared to the private schools.

That doesn't answer the question, so what's the approx. cost to attend?

Someone asked me this also just a couple of months ago. I suggested to them that they should call the CA BRN if an applicant is really required to have a license or if there is another way to waive that. From what I've read in the past requirement is the state requires a license from where they were trained OR a diploma stating they have graduated from the program. I hope they won't require a license,

It is almost 2013 they may start new rules and adding more new requirements concering application for the NCLEX.
