C in A&P 3 and Microbiology?

Published

Hi everyone,

I feel like I need to let this off my chest. This fall semester, I got a C in microbiology and in A&P 3. This came at the semester right before I'm going apply to nursing schools. My other A&P grades are good. Also, all my other grades, like writing, math (up to Pre-Calc and statistics), psychology are all good too. I'm just worried that I won't get into nursing school with these 2 C's. I feel really really bad because I just had a bad term. So basically i guess my question is, did anyone get into nursing school with C's, or did anyone make these kind of grades in A&P and micro?? I would like to know other people's experiences. I just hope I haven't blown my chances of getting into schools this year... Thanks in advanced

I received a C in my Micro class. I also received a C in my first Nursing quarter. Another C 3rd quarter 2nd year in OB. I took Micro that same quarter. I graduated from a two year college and continued with a 4 year degree, I received a C in the required Patho class for the BSN degree. Then a C in the required Nursing Statistic class for the MSN. So I would not worry too much about that C.

Some do not take tests well, but continue to be excellent at actually Nursing position and then some do great on tests and can't work the floor.

Good Luck!:yeah:

I think it depends on the competitiveness of getting into the school such as long waitlists. I talked to a Saddleback community college counselor here in California and he said I needed all A and B, mostly A. Then again, I didn't have that. Either way, you have a chance to retake those classes if you don't get into the school. Just apply and wait to see. You never know, especially if you have other good grades like you mentioned for A&P. Also, if you had any extenuating circumstances, such as a family emergency et cetera this semester, you can also bring that to the school's attention to explain your bad term. Good luck!

It depends on the school you are applying to. They should be honest about the kinds of grades you need to be accepted into their program. I would call the school and ask to speak to a counselor and get their honest opinion. Then you can decide if you want/need to take the courses over.

Agree with the above; it really depends on the school and how competitive enrollment to the program is. Get an honest opinion from an advisor or program coordinator. There is NO WAY C's would fly at my school. There are straight A students who don't get accepted!
