Butte College RN Program

I have consecutively applied to the Butte College Nursing Program for the last 4 semesters (2 years!). When I first applied, I was aware of the waiting list but I was told that the 4th time applying would guarantee a spot in the program due to the increase in chances every semester. I just emailed the program directer who was very nice and helpful, but informed me that most students are getting in their 6th or 7th time applying! I would love to hear from others who are working toward the Butte RN program, how many times they have applied and so on...would love to hear some feedback on other's experiences!

I did see that, I was hoping we could do in person also but let’s cross our fingers that all 4 semesters won’t be like that and that it eventually merges back. @aarmus

@katieh11 thank you !! I just wanted to share because I see no one in this thread has got in on the 3rd time, but it’s definitely possible.

For those that have gotten in already and started the program, what was your schedule for your first semester? I’m trying to plan for daycare if I get in this next round (it’ll be my 6th application). Thanks!

Monday: 8-12 Zoom

Tuesday:1-3:50 Zoom 

weds: on campus 8-4:30

Thursday: same as Wednesday 

Friday off.
 

I heard this may be changing soon but I’m not sure when it will be taking place.

That is not a bad schedule! Ahhh I’m dying waiting for results. This is my 7th round!

7th round got 9th on the alternate list. They said they took 20 alternates last year so hoping a seat opens!!

Well, March 15, 2023, and I am a first-time applicant to Butte College. I must admit that I was very naive when applying to nursing schools because when I read this comment thread I had no idea that I would be looking at waiting for 6-7 semesters. I am still in shock. I wish everyone the best of luck, this is the 9th school on my list. I have received the "approved for inclusion in the March lottery" email.

As I'm very impatiently waiting for orientation to happen (which I still don't know when that will be), what can I start collecting as supplies? Do we buy our own scrubs? What color shoes do we have to have? If anyone that's recently gotten into the program could give me any details, I'd totally appreciate it!!
