Hello Nurse Beth :)
I'm a pre-nursing student who will be applying to various ABSN programs in a year or two. My journey to nursing has been a bit bumpy due to being diagnosed with early stage breast cancer.
I am in treatment and my doctors expect me to be fully recovered in a year with an excellent prognosis. My life has changed a lot but my passion for nursing has deepened.
I just wonder if nursing school will be taxing on me as a survivor? Nursing is full of stress and I'm not sure if it's a wise decision to continue. Any advice ?
Congrats on your recovery.
If your doctors clears you with no restrictions...you should go for it. You won't know if it's too taxing until you try. If the stress of school affects your health, you can always adjust your plans later.
You have an excellent prognosis and a passion for nursing- you will have alot to offer as a nurse.
Best wishes,
Nurse Beth
