BSN vs. ADN really does it matter these days?

Nurses General Nursing

I just completed my BSN this early year. BIG whaaaahoey.

It has not done much for me.. at all. NO pay increase, recruiters are not knocking at my door. Is it just a worthless higher degree that gets me really.. nowhere? Feeling that way.

In my experience 5-10 years of high quality ICU & ER experience, along with CCRN and CEN beats the heck out of a BSN for getting a job any day.

Hard to have 5-10 years of experience in nursing as a new grad.

Also, folks who graduate with a BSN can also go on to get 5-10 years of ICU/ER experience and obtain certifications. It happens all the time I hear. Comparing experience to nursing degree obtained is an apples to oranges comparison. Someone applying for a job that requires experience who lacks said experience won't compare to the candidate who has the advanced experience- not sure anyone debates that.
