Hey guys,

Just curious, I have done all my prerequisites for the BSN program but I did not get into the program so I have decided to do the ADN program. Will I take the same time to finish as the others knowing that I only have the clinical portion to do? When I looked at the program, I discover that I have completed most of the corequisites for the ADN. I only have have about seven courses to do for the ADN. will the seven that are left tkae me 18 months to finish?

Please reply, I need to know.

Thank you.

Ann.

Our communtiy project starts off with everyone picking a group of 5-6 people and then picking an area of Las Vegas. During our first semester we assess our target area and do a huge paper on demographics, what the problems in our area are, etc. In the second semester, we pick a group in our target area that we can do teaching to. Our group picked an area that has a lot of hispanics. In Las Vegas it is typical for hispanics to not get prenatal health care and to just "drop in" the hospital to have a baby. Then in the third semester we address our target group and do teaching. The fourth semester we follow-up with the target group.

Our school call this class "Professional Topics" and it is 2 credits

Specializes in ER.

Sounds like it would be great for those who plan to go into Community Health Nursing, but maybe not so great for everyone else.

We have a class called Nursing of Communities, but it simply involves clinical rotations in health depts., head start programs, etc.

Hi!

I am 37 years old and I would like to get my BSN because I do not want to have go back to school once I get my RN Degree.

I am the prerequisite coursework for a BSN, but I amy have to do a ADN because I am having trouble with the Intermediate Algebra I like math, but it does not like me. I started off not having a good foundation before I entered into college. I am plan to take courses that will transfer into both degree programs and try to take the Intermediate Algebra and Statistics in a semester or two. I am hoping to at least get my ADN. Though I may struggle academically I believe that I have the potential to become a RN.

I am sorry that I sound and frustrated. Am I the only one who struggles academically ( exspecally math)with certain courses in this community? Good Luck To Everyone.

Carmen

Carmen, It is a good idea to get a lot of the bachelor pre-req's out of the way while doing the RN program.

If you are still having trouble with Algebra, see if your school has a math lab, there is help out there on the internet also. I disliked algebra but it does get better.

Good Luck !;)

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on the different on line programs. For example the lvn to bsn program. Im looking at university of phoenix and the college network that is associated with indiana university. Is there any difference in time and cost? Are they hard to complete? I was also wondering what the preceptorship at the hospital is like.
