BSN Nursing Program GPA Average

Hey everyone!

Im new to this site but I just wanted to get an opinion from other BSN students or new grads. Im in a BSN program that was just started about 3 years ago and they are definitely still working out the kinks. I have a few other friends in other nursing programs in my state that have like 3.5-4.0 GPAs and don't seem to be having too much of a hard time with their program in general. In my program on the other hand, rarely anyone makes A's on exams, no one has ever made The Dean's List (3.5 GPA for the semester), and our program is already half the size it was when we started over a year ago from people failing out. Even the smartest people in our class usually end up with B's with maybe one A in the easier class for the semester.

It just seems so frustrating to me! I've always been an A-B student and have done fairly well but it's so discouraging to see all my friends making A's and breezing through, and I can barely get a B anymore in my classes. I'm not saying it's an easy process at all and you have to devote your life to nursing school, but I have and I study my butt off and don't do anything on the weekends and work and work and work for these classes but my grades truly do not reflect my effort. And many other people in my program feel the same way...

Is anyone else's nursing program the same way or is anyone else feeling this way as well??

    I'm in an associate degree program and I totally agree with you ? our program is sooo hard compared to the others in the area. The program starts with usually 220 people and you end up graduating with about 60-80 people. I mean we are definitely more prepared than the other schools but it is very challenging.

    As a fellow BSN student I understand. Your a guinea pig to a new program and it sucks. My class is small but about 15 people have dropped out or failed out. If you are putting in a lot effort and seeing no results. Change your study habits, study with a partner or small group. Don't use a ton a resources. Pick 2-3 that work and don't have contrasting information. This is what I do and it's helped me maintain an 3.6 so far.
