When I did my research to what NP specialty I wanted, I was debating between FNP and Adult-Gero NP. I found that FNP have the ability to see children as well as adults. Adult-Gero NP only sees the adult population.

In easy terms, NP is a title, similar to how an RN is a title. The difference is the academic degree. For RNs, you can be an Associate degree holder or a Bachelor degree holder. Similarly, for an NP, you can be Master's educated or Doctorally educated.

How to choose between a Masters or Doctorate degree? It really is up to you whether you think the cost, curriculum, prestige, etc is worth it.

Good luck!
