BSN Degree Information

Published

I am a nursing student hopeful and I want to know what all I will be able to do with a BSN degree. Also, once I graduate college with a BSN degree will I have to go to some type of graduate school for nursing or will I be able to go straight to the work field ?

You must pass the NCLEX exam before you can work as a nurse. And why in the world are you in nursing school if you don't know this basic information about the profession? I'm truly curious- did you do any preliminary data gathering before you decided to become a nurse?

The OP says s/he is a nursing student hopeful. I interpret that as not yet in school, presumably doing this kind of research now because s/he is interested in nursing and people aren't born knowing this stuff.

OP, a BSN degree will prepare you for the licensure exam and state licensure as an RN (Registered Nurse). The degree and license are all you need to start working as an RN. While nurses can choose to go to graduate school for additional education and qualifications for different specialty roles within nursing, it's not a requirement.

Best wishes for your journey!

I'm not in nursing school yet. I am a first year freshman in college. I am still taking my basic classes such as History, English, and Chemistry. I am looking for information on the BSN degree. That is why I posted this discussion. So can you help me?

My bad. Mea culpa

Thank you so much. That was very helpful. That finished off the rest of the information that I needed to know. Once again I say thank you!

It's ok. I didn't realize someone else had already cleared that up. I'm sorry for the way that came off. Please forgive me.

You're welcome. Best wishes!
