bsn at CSUB or adn at saddleback

Published

Hi everyone, I have quite a decision to make.

I have been accepted into CSUB bsn program, but they just told me that it will switching to the three year traditional curriculum instead of the 18month program.

so my question is should I go to CSUB's program for three years or go to Saddleback's ADN program (which I have also been accepted to) and then work while getting my bsn from somewhere else. I may also have the choice of Pasadena's or Cuesta's program too (haven't heard from them yet), but my ultimate goal is to get a bsn.

any recomendations?

Yeah I guess anything can happen, but I know that they didn't change the 3 year program when they made the change to accelerated. Hopefully they will do the same and you won't have to stay an extra year.

This is what I'm hearing. Hospitals (Saddleback & Mission, St Jude) want Magnet status and won't hire ADNs. They want BSN grads, so I would do the BSN program. The job market is tight anyway so you would have an advantage over ADN grads. Saddleback program is good, but they are not shy about flunking people out of clinicals if they are not good enough. So, it's a little nerve-racking to think you can flunk out at 4th semester, but this is why they have a good reputation. Saddleback only graduates students who pass clinicals well, not kind of well. Saddleback does have good professors. It's a good program but tough.
