  1. This is what I'm hearing. Hospitals (Saddleback & Mission, St Jude) want Magnet status and won't hire ADNs. They want BSN grads, so I would do the BSN program. The job market is tight anyway so you would have an advantage over ADN grads. Saddleback program is good, but they are not shy about flunking people out of clinicals if they are not good enough. So, it's a little nerve-racking to think you can flunk out at 4th semester, but this is why they have a good reputation. Saddleback only graduates students who pass clinicals well, not kind of well. Saddleback does have good professors. It's a good program but tough.
  2. If you think your chances of getting into your BSN program is high, then go straight for your BSN. I live in S. Cali and hospitals are telling me they are accepting BSNs only! ADNs are having a hard time finding a job. It's also faster to graduate from a straight BSN program than to bridge over and then do an RN to BSN program just from my research. by the way, I'm in an ADN program right now, and I'm regretting not going into a BSN program due to the job market.
  3. Hi, I'm a little new and have forgotten how to post a new thread, so I'm replying to this one in the hopes that I may get an answer. I'm currently in an ADN program and want to obtain my MSN in psych/mental health (I already possess a BS degree). My question is when I graduate, I plan on trying to obtain any nursing job as jobs are very scarce (I live in S. Cali) here. However, I'm scared employers will be put off by my long-term goal of obtaining an NP in psych. They may think I'm a wasted investment. But, I do want acute care experience. I think that's important as some mental pts may have physical issues. I will also try for MH jobs, but with the job market being what it is, I really want any nursing job when I graduate. Do you think my obtaining an MSN is a potential red flag to employers? Should I be vague and say it's not an NP position? Thanks sooo much! (BTW, how does one start a new thread??)
