Hello,
does anyone know Brownwood Regional Medical Center? I have an interview with them and would like to know if it would be a good place to work at.
Thank you.
Daniela
Anyone??? My interview is coming up, I'm not from TX so I don't know the hospital or the area. I did some research online but would like to hear from someone local.....

Is there any particular reason you're choosing Brownwood? Do you know any body there?
I know some people that live in Brownwood and it's a small town but growing. I'm not so sure if I can tell you any thing about the hospital, but I could try and find out for you.
It's a two hour drive south of Ft Worth, TX. I've been to that town a lot and I can tell you that I sure wouldn't want to live there. My friend that was in the hospital there a couple of years ago was telling me how rude the nursing staff was, but that's just subjective data on her part. Wouldn't you rather be in the DFW area? It's much nicer around here than in Brownwood, that's for sure!
There are several hospitals in the DFW area that are currently hiring new grads. I would certainly try that before moving to Brownwood. You can try Parkland in Dallas, John Peter Smith in Ft Worth, Plaza Medical Center in Ft Worth and Harris Hospital in Ft Worth.
Thank you for replying and for the info. I was actually contacted by the HR lady at this hospital, I never really applied to the hospital so I don't really know how they got my resume.
I live in Los Angeles and here there are no jobs for new grads, I've been looking for months and spoke to several recruiters and they all told me that it's hard I'll get a job here and if I can I should move.
I've never been to TX and didn't have any idea where Brownwood was :). The HR lady told me that they had some bad experiences in the past of people signing in with them only to run away after a few months
I heard it's really hard to get a job in DFW especially if you don't have a BSN (I have an associate). Honestly I don't know what to do, if I stay where I am chances are I'll never be a nurse.......I have a skype interview with them on Wednesday, we'll see how it goes.
Thanks again!!!!!

I don't know where you heard that DFW is only hiring BSNs because from my stand point, that is not true.
I work at a major hospital and we have a boat load of new grad ADNs. There are a couple other hospitals
In the area that I know hire ADNs. Don't always believe what you hear.
That's scary about Brownwood hospital but it doesn't surprise me. I would never want to work there after
What I've heard from my friend. Just be careful, ask a lot of questions, like pt ratio, etc. It's not worth
Losing your license over. if I can be of any help Ill be glad to, just message me.
Thanks for the information. After months of applying to hundreds of positions all over California and hundreds of rejections, this is the only interview I got. But it doesn't sound like a good place to start my career.
It's good to know that you don't need a BSN to work in Tx, however all the new grads programs say BSN preferred. Same thing here in California. I don't know if it's true, but by reading this forum it seems it's very tough to find a job in the big cities in TX, there are a lot of new grads. That's why I only sent a couple of applications, because I figured I didn't have many chances since I'm not local and I don't have a TX license.
Well, I guess nursing is just not meant to be for me........I'll interview with them tomorrow but after what you said I don't think I'd wanna work there......I'll just go back to school and get my BSN and keep working in my non nursing job. Hopefully when I'm done with my BSN the economy will get better.
Thanks for all your help!!!!! I really appreciated it!

First of all, congrats on getting an interview! If they offer you a job, you sould take it. I did one clinical rotation at Brownwood Regional and it was alright. I didn't learn or get to do very much but I think that had more to do with my clinical instructor and the fact that it was only my second clinical rotation. Also, in my opinion, the new hires who "ran" away after a few months is probably due to the town. Brownwood is very, very small and if you are from the city (like me) it'll be a difficult adjustment.
And I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with Dienne, you can try to apply at Parkland, Medical City, Plaza, Texas Health Resource, JPS...all the major hospitals in Dallas-Fort Worth but good luck! There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of students applying for those jobs twice a year and getting a job is going to be very difficult with them. I'm from Dallas and I'm not even looking in Dallas anymore! In my opinion, get your 1 year experience in at Brownwood, then if you want to leave, at least you have some experience and money in your pockets. The surgery staff is hilarious and nice. They also have very yummy breakfast Good luck!!!
