I had a student c/o sore throat. Looked at her throat (which seemes fine) and noticed that on each side of the tip of her tongue she had a small patch or little brown spots. Looked like taste buds. The rest of her tongue was a normal pallor but her taste buds were somewhat pronounced. She insists that her tongue isn't bpthering her, just her throat.
I know that people can get darker spots on their tongues with iron deficiency anemia but I want to say they can also demonstrate this with sickle cell anemia... am I just making that up? Any experience with this. (This is an African American student)
