Broward college nursing program 2019

Published

Hello, I've decided to create a forum for all the applicants/future applicants who will(hopefully) be attending broward college's nursing program in 2019. I've seen one for almost every year so I figured 2019 should have one as well. You're free to discuss the excitement and stresses of the application process as well as the program itself.

They said they will have final decision on November 30.

Oh wow that's far I thought they said 30 business days.

Hey, everyone! I'm currently in the program and in Process 1 so I was in your place around a month ago, lol. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns! :) good luck

Can we contact you via email ?

Have fun whoever is starting the nursing program next year...some of you may be excited now but wait until you start...some of the people make the experience miserable but try it for yourself. Oh and they say you cant work but yet when it comes to financial aid the total amount of credits come out as part time so if you dont get enough of financial aid so I dont know how some people survive without working if you have bills to pay.

Hey! I go to Central campus, each campus runs their program a little differently, but I would say to focus on Infection Control, Hygiene, Physical Assessment, and Vital Signs for the most part. Its a lot of information but those are usually the big foundation chapters.

hey guys!

I'm currently applying/waiting on my decision for summer 2019.

Summer 2019 is the last semester where the HESI scores are at a minimum of 75%. Starting fall 2019, it will be at 80%. I did have to retake the anatomy section, but here are my scores:

Reading: 90%

Grammar: 84%

Vocab: 82%

Math: 94%

Anatomy: 88%

I studied for about 3 weeks for the test, but I was also very comfortable with the material on the test.

My GPA for the point system is an 11, which is a 3.5 GPA. I do have an AA from another Florida community college and went ahead and took all the prereqs. I only have a B in Anatomy 1, the lab, and Anatomy 2 lecture.

The point system also gives 5 points for military members, so if you weren't in the military, I would strongly recommend to try to get as many A's as you possibly can.

"For May 2018, admitted students had GPAs of 3.0 to 4.0. Alternates had GPAs of 2.72 to 2.90." This is a pretty good gauge of competition. The fall and spring sessions had higher GPA's with a range of 3.1-4.0 with alternates up to a 3.18 GPA.

For study purposes, I used Crash Course's Anatomy and Physiology videos, which helped me to refresh the material without having to read. And I used Pocket Prep which has a passing rate guarantee- they will refund if you don't pass the HESI. I definitely recommend the videos and the app.

My advice is that since Broward doesn't account for retakes, invest in a tutor for your prereqs like the math and chem if you know it is not your strong suit. I also used Chegg Study for Statistics, Chem, and Microbiology. Personally, Quizlet wasn't much help, but I also don't study well with flashcards, so it's important to know what your study style is!

Hopefully this helps! Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Hey! Have you gotten back a decision yet?

I have a 2.1 GPA and is interesting in taking the Nursing program at the North Campus. I am almost done with my Pre req, I only have A&P 1 and A&P 2 as well as Microbiology left before I can apply. I am afraid because of my GPA I will not get in. Please Help with ideas.
