HEY FUTURE NURSES

Hope all is well. Is anyone here going to apply to the Fall 2023 Nursing program at Broward college? Has anyone finished their perquisite? Has anyone taken the HESI yet? Ready to apply?

Do we need to get our CPR certification and background checks done before first semester starts?

Hey Annarella that's awesome ?. That is a good HESI score and G.P.A. I am super nervous. I have a 3.5 G.P.A and will be taking the HESI in April. I just hope it's enough to get into the program. Do you know anyone who has been through their program?

I've been. 2015. Brutal. Lots of test banks being sold, previous professors were sketchy, the stress was unlike any I ever experienced. I lost weight. I cried. I had to retrack. I would never do it again.

Good luck though!

@ButterflyRN90 wow ? I heard the horror stories as well. What do you mean sketchy professors? Oh man! You had to retrack? What does that mean? Do you think it's a good choice of program ? I know heard it's a great program but was it worth the stress?

During my time we had professors give tests that were irrelevant to what we were taught. I fight so hard during one of my exams, I woke up early in the morning, drove there with 15 of my classmates for the instructor to RESCAN the Scantron. The 6 that had failed ended up passing because she had fed the Scantron through incorrectly. I fought many times even with the Associate Dean of my campus. Retracking many of you failed a class you would go to this special class to "learn" how to take notes, answer test questions, etc. Everyone hated it. I'm not sure how it is now, but it did help me when I had to leave the program with 2 months left to another program. The students there weren't passing and I was the ONLY graduate in the new school out of 12 and only one to pass the NCLEX because of my BC knowledge. So yes, in the correct form it's worth it. I'm sure you heard about the associate dean Dr S getting fired, test banks being passed over and over, professors bickering amongst each other, fail outs, etc. Go for it though, your experience may be different. Just don't focus on making friends. Focus on passing. A "C" is passing. Don't try to stress yourself being the best. Also, in clinicals PLEASE do NOT go to a nurse in their patient's rooms and start numbering off what you learned in your text that she/he isn't doing. Be humble. Have fun ?
