Broward College/Miami-Dade College, RN's HELP!! Where Do I Begin?

Published

Good Day All Nurses,

So, I was always told that the the only dumb questions are the ones not being asked..

:uhoh3: So Here It GOES:

:nurse: To get into Broward College's or Miami-Dade College's Nursing Program, where do I start? :nurse:

I attended BC previously with the intent to get into their Nursing Program.. B/C of health/family issues I had to withdraw from my classes. AnyHOoz, now that I'm ready to finish what I started with my ADN degree.. I am absolutely LOSTED on where to start. I have appts lined up for BC and MDC's academic advisors, but I thought I'd ask on here as well. I still have a few pre-reqs to complete and my issue is figuring out what classes can be done prior to submitting and after submission, like when do I actually submit my app, basically a step-by-step guide for folks in my position who are in pursue of becoming a nurse.. ANY ADVICE, would be helpful.. Maybe book and professors recommendations..? I'm SSSSSOOOOOOOOO ready to start just weary about being able to do this.. Thanks to all that viewed and replied!!

I would speak with the advisors first. They should be able to give you the best picture of exactly what you need to do. For Miami-Dade, you'll need to take 18 credits worth of pre-requisites, and take the TEAS test.

Your entrance score to MDC will be weighted 60% toward your TEAS Score and 40% toward your GPA.

My only other advice is be patient, and study study study! There are good and bad professors out there, but YOU control your grade. It may take awhile to get everything complete, but the determined will stick it out. I wish you success!

I'm thinking about moving to florida and was considering attending PBCC or MDC's nursing program, can anyone tell me which of the two is better? Thanks in advance.

Specializes in Peds, Trauma, Neuro, Burns.

Broward College has the highest pass rate on the NCLEX exam (the Florida Boards), and the Health Science Department is the #3 size department in the country. They also have an RN-BSN program you can go straight into after completion and passing your boards. Can be done in 1 year.

Good luck!
