Broward College May 2017

Published

Anyone Applying to the May 2017 program? I wanted to get into the January program but I was missing a math class and couldn't complete it in time for the January program.

I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you do good on the rest of the assignments and do all the extra credit.

So for anatomy 2, I messed up due to technical issues on the first lab quiz and got a D does that affect your grade that bad? For those who took it online at Keiser

I think im good, I had A freak out moment lmao. My professor is amazing she is willing to help to help me pass

Good Afternoon Future May Nurses. Even though we still have a few months before applications deadline and we get our final decisions. I'm really hoping for May, but then again on the other hand I'm not because its fast track being that we have 12 or so weeks as opposed to 16. I'm actually retaking english at keiser. I currently have a 3.0 and I didn't get into January applicant pool. I'm not sure if the question was on this thread or January thread about paying for classes at keiser. I'm using my loan and some of my pell grant that was awarded to me for January at BC I was also given a scholorship at Keiser as well. I decided to take 2 classes because realistically I wasn't going to have the money to pay out of pocket for 1 class in 2 months. I started English and this is the first week. So far so good. its a lot of different assignments that have to be completed, but its manageable I'm still enrolled in 2 classes at Broward and I work full time and have two kids so it can be done. However, when I do get accepted to BC I probably will be paying out of pocket. I've maxed out my pell money maybe have $600 or so left, and my loans are just about maxed out as well story of my life. BC is my only choice I have no plan B as far as schools due to the money situation. Keiser Nursing Program is about 40,000 with all there fees and what not so BC it is. I know May is quite some time away, but is anyone doing anything to kinda get a head start?

how do you know if you maxed out your pell grants and loans?

I was going to go to keiser if I didn't get accepted into broward Nursing program for may. So there was a few classes that I was missing for keiser and I needed to retake English for broward. Being that those were my two schools of choice I was going to do what was needed just in case. So when I met with financial aid they pulled all of my financial information. In my experience private schools require a lot more information so they have to lay a lot out on the table as far as telling the students whats what. I never knew there was a max amount or that I was even close to the limit and If Keiser wouldn't have told me I probably wouldn't have known at BC until It was time to pay for classes for Summer semester. So if I get accepted im going to apply for the scholarship that they have at work force. I need all the money that I can get at this point.

I actually just looked and there is a 600 percent limit, which means you can use 100 percent of the pell a year for 6 years. I don't know how accurate that is, but so far I haven't even got near that 600 percent. But I am sure you can get scholarships to help with costs.

yes that's the info Keiser gave me. Right now I'm hoping for the best and I can apply for scholarships will have a lil bit of pell to cover some expenses for May term. When we find out in march I'm going to try and buy as much as i can while i still have a job. For Christmas I asked for a stethoscope so that will be one thing out the way. When I see some comfortable white shoes on sale I will get those too. Hoping to get an A in this English class i will have a 3.6 gpa i believe. Are you going to work while in the program?

Yes I did the exact same! lol

I am not sure if I will work, I keep hearing its hard with working and being this term is faster, some say its possible but I want to give the program a 100% of my dedication and attention. I may just babysit for money that way I can still do school work. Are you going to work?

I don't think I'm going to work for the first semester. My husband is going to support me as much as he can, but l need to work at least part time soon. With my kids I want to try and maintain their lifestyle. That's why I'm trying to do a lot of preparing now. So I'm saving up to hold me for 6 months or so. I'm very nervous. I hope they don't push the application deadline back being that may SOMETIMES they get less generic applicants due to the acceleration and they don't accept that many generic students in may either. If you don't mind me asking whats your gpa?

First semester I probably will not work myself. God I hope they don't push it back, my anxiety is already through the roof. My GPA after retaking AP 2 IF AND WHEN I get an A, wil be a 3.09. What is your GPA?

If AND WHEN I GET AN A in English lol I will have a 3.6 or so gpa. I'm thinking they are going to push it back because less apply around that time due to the fast pace. Do you know anyone in the program? Are you doing any reading as of yet? What campus are you trying to attend?
