Broward College January 2011

Published

New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!

Another thing I found funny is in our emails we received this morning with our schedules, we were supposed to get 2 face to face schedules for Central, and we did- but they were the exact same thing. Anyone else notice that? Why would they do that? Weird!

I know you can get the North booklist on the Process teacher's website, and the South one was sent to us, but where is the Central booklist? I e-mailed two of the people the Central ''welcome'' sheet said to e-mail about questions, so I hope I hear back about that. I DID glance at the South booklist, and they didn't change the editions of the two Perry-Potter books. I'm pretty positive we use those at ALL campuses for NUR1020/L. For MTB and Pharm though, for Central, I have NO idea what we're supposed to use. If anyone knows, please either reply or send me a PM. :)

Hey If you find out about Central book list could you please share! It would be greatly appreciated! =)

Does anyone know if the clinical site differs based on what reference number you use? I'm planning on attending North Campus and there are 10 different reference numbers but it doesn't say which hospital.

I was wondering the SAME thing! I don't think we'll find out until tomorrow, when we register...maybe it'll say the clinical site then. For now, we have to wonder! But maybe even tomorrow it won't say. I sure hope it does, though...(Especially since I'm going to Central!)

Whats the main hospital North uses?? to whoever is going to north, which hospital are you using??

The reference numbers do not make a difference! They put you where they want you :-)

Anyone know what the abbreviations are for the hospitals for South campus? They are MHS, MHP,MRH, MHW... I'm assuming all memorial hospital... and memorial regional...

MHP= Memorial Hospital Pembroke

MRH= Memorial Regional Hospital

MHW= Memorial Hospital West

For NP1 and 2 it was: Coral Springs, Northwest Med, University Hosp, North Broward, Imperial Pt and Holy Cross

For GIGU it was: Coral Springs, North Broward, Imp pt and Holy Cross (I think)

Peds: Plantation and Coral Springs

OB: Plantation, Holy Cross, Coral Springs

Pysch: Imp Pt

Ortho: North Browards, Imp Pt and Holy Cross

From what I heard from someone in the program this semester, it didn't matter what reference number you pick. It is when you get there, your assigned instructer goes to a certain hospital and that is where you'll go. It will change each term when your instructer changes.

Hospitals are based on your instructer, not the reference number. So when you know the teacher name, you can ask to find out where they go. And sometimes they go to more than 1 hospital.

So I pressed the register now button after choosing my courses just to see what it would say, and low and behold I have a block on my account because of a pre req that was transfered!!!! UGHHHHH!!! I went to registration to clear this up and was told that there were no blocks on my account!! How frustrating! Now I can't register in the morning until it is cleared up by registration...if I can get ahold of them! SO UPSET!!!

How were you able to choose your classes already?

The only thing I can think of that she might have meant is this- if you go into MyBC and go to Add/Drop, then go to Check Appointment Status, then click on View Registration Details for Winter 2011 and it should tell you a few 'Messages'- including any Holds and their Severity/if they'll block you from registering for classes. :)

So, who else is setting their alarms for 7:50, just to register and go right back to sleep? Hehe.

I wish everyone good luck in the mad rush tomorrow morning! I know it's going to be hectic, and there will probably be a few mishaps, as usual with Broward.

I also got accepted for Jan 11! I am so excited! but totally freaking out at the same time. I have three children and separated from my husband. I seriously don't know how I'm going to pull this one off, only thing I know is that I am going to be a nurse. Anyone have any suggestions on how to manage time so I won't hang myself by the second week:uhoh3:?
