I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!
I can't think of a reason that makes waiting longer a "good" thing. The only good scenario is that they are trying to find out if they can staff more campuses for summer so they can figure out how many *more* to accept. Kcoops, they accept a little less than half for summer, probably more than that for Fall. That's not too bad. BC has become more competitive and it really does have a great reputation. Summer session cohort is probably the most selective, so that generally suggests a better overall group of students in that cohort compared to Fall and Winter cohorts. Since the classes are condensed into 6 weeks instead of 8 weeks, I guess that works out the way it should.
For anyone: So, why nursing? What kind of nursing are you interested in?

I certainly hope that is what is taking so long. Hopefully they'll have a south campus group. To answer your questions, why nursing? Well for me I am a career changer. I started college in nursing and then switched to education, umm not really sure why. I taught for 3 years after earning my degree. I then lost my job and started to rethink my decision. Turns out I made a bad choice, but hey everything happens for a reason. Now the kind of nursing I am interested in is either maternity or NICU. It's something I've always been interested in.

Also switching from education.
Has anyone been using the allnurses app? I find it very difficult, unfortunately. I query this forum about all my nursing questions. Have been learning a lot. Including the BC is the best deal for nursing school out there.
It takes some getting used to but it is good enough to use. Usually I just check replies till I get to a computer.
