I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!
Well anyway,
I spoke to the admissions counselor at north and she said that they are waiting on 20 something people to provide missing pieces of their application, like HCP waivers, grades of classes taken elsewhere, etc... So we are not waiting for them; they are waiting for us. She said they sent out emails about it. I'm surprised by this. I assumed schools would just throw out incomplete applications and tell you to apply again when complete.
I hope they offer summer on at least two campuses or this will be a very competitive admissions. Good luck all!

I'm sure those people had a deadline or their application was not counted. They can't wait forever when they themselves have a deadline. They probably had until today or their application is thrown out.
NPs can write prescriptions independent of a doctor. This is nursing, not PA. In Florida, or anywhere, you can practice nursing. Practicing nursing with an advanced degree does not make you a doctor. Nursing has its own advantages. Nurses are quite numerous and the nursing lobby is strong and working hard for nurses. Become a member as soon as you become a nursing student. This was supposed to be a reply to Christopherntl. Why doesn't it show up that way? Do you have to copy and paste the original quote??
You have to hit the quote button on the actual post and it will fill it in automatically.
In reply to your post though, I agree that Nurses practice in a different (some would say superior) manner to docs, and I definitely plan on becoming a member of any RN association I can as soon as I graduate, but unfortunately NP's are still being held back by outdated laws especially here in Florida. They cannot practice without a MD's "supervision" and they also cannot prescribe controlled medications.

Thanks for the info Chris!
I agree with you Stacie. There must be a deadline for those people missing items to their application. I would think it's the end of this week as well. Hopefully them waiting on those applicants is a good sign..I would think if the space is very limited they wouldn't be so lenient with late applicants, but who knows.

Lets hope that this is the case. If they are waiting, I just don't see them waiting beyond today or even yesterday the end of the month.
AbyJR, thank you for the information about the childcare. Which campus did you visit by the way?
Stacie29,
I figured out the quote thing. I'm new here. I visited North campus preschool.
I spoke to the admissions counselor at north early this week. If people don't get their stuff in, we'll be waiting for them. She did not mention if they have a deadline other than 2/15. Other than that, I think they already know who they will accept. I did not think to ask about other campuses. I have a friend in my micro class with a 4.0 and 99% on the HESI and no waivers, she took HCP at BC. I'm sure she is at the top of the admissions list. I keep checking with her to see if she has heard anything. So far, nothing.
Where did you take Micro? I am taking it now.
