Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm starting this thread for students looking to start(ing), and (or) finishing there pre's by spring of 2013 at Broward College. Also for those who are entering (or) looking to enter the Nursing Program in Fall 2013.
We are exactly one year away from this program. So tell me what classes are you taking or have left?
I have Fall Math Intermediate, A&P II lab only, and Computers (need 6 credits to get loans.) Winter College Algebra or Statistics and Chem 1032& Chem lab
Summer Microbiology and Micro Lab.
Yesterday I visted advisement at South, and when I was leaving I got a wake up call that now I will only live, eat, breath nursing school. I never felt this way before. Once me and my advisor went over my Education Plan I started to feel that school going to get harder. Hey I can do this and so can you.
** Let me know your thoughts guys. Until....
So I spoke to someone in Health Admissions & yep,,, deadline has been extended to June 28 due to "lack of qualified candidates." Now we wont know until 2 weeks after the new deadline....July 13th. This waiting is overwhelming!!! Started reading the Potter book to kill some time...lol How's everyone else doing?

Thanks for the info dying2bRN. Did you find out what they meant by 'qualified candidates'? I know I met the requirements and was assigned points, but did they say what they were looking for?
I ended up with 11 points for GPA and Broward resident. I didn't earn anything for the health student association. What about anyone else?
Hello nurse 2783... From what I gathered,,, it seems that not enough people have met the new requirements (Math & Micro) with at least a 3.0... It's times like this that I am soooo thankful that I took STATS my freshman year!!! I am confident that with your 11 points & my 14 that we should get in without a problem...Fingers crossed...Best of luck to you!!!
So I followed up with someone in the Central admissions office, and she told me that if you applied within the original deadline, we should find out if we are accepted by the end of this week! The only people who would have to wait until July to find out are those who are applying with the new deadline. Can't wait!!! Good luck everyone!

This is soooo confusing,,, but I hope it's true because I have no more nails to bite in anticipation!!! Thanks for the info!!! Good luck to you too!!! :)

Hello DeonNursingBound, HCP0001 is actually a course you have to take, if you don't have a license where you provide direct patient care.
This is the info that Cathydotcom posted about the HCP course: "The HCP course is a very easy class to take and honestly if I was exempt I would take it anyways. There is no grade you just either pass or fail so it won't effect your GPA. You cover aseptic hand washing techniques, putting on your gloves in a sterile environment, moving a patient in bed, blood pressure, putting a patient in a wheel chair from the bed, and few other things I can't remember. All of those skills are good to get familiar with before the program. There are 4 written quizzes and each skill you learn has to be demonstrated to the professor. It really isn't too difficult but it's all skills worth knowing before getting into nursing school in my opinion."
