Brightwood college

Hi, guys I got accepted to brightwood college for the lvn program. In San Antonio, Tx. I was looking into galen but they had a waiting list. I was just wondering if anybody had ever done their nursing program through this school? And what is the difference between nationally accredited & regional accreditation. Thank you!

They are not accredited by either. Regional accreditation is about transferring credits. National is about obtaining a job afterwards. Many places require you to have graduated from a school that is accredited by the ACEN.

Beware of for profit colleges that claim accreditation when they are not.

Why not look into a community college?

It says it is accredited by acis. Is that a bad thing?

It's not "bad," but it's not an accreditation that actually means anything. ACIS is one of the accreditation organizations created by the proprietary (for-profit) technical/vocational schools, that only accredit tech/voch schools, so that they can tell prospective students that they are "accredited" without it being a lie and hope that the prospective students won't know enough to ask any further questions.

The accreditations that matter in nursing are regional general academic accreditation, and national nursing accreditation (ACEN or CCNE). There are lots of other accreditations "out there," but they don't really matter.

Oh okay. I guess I will just wait for galen they are acen accredited and ccne I really don't want to risk anything. Thank you all for informing me!

You may already be aware of this, since you've been in communication with them recently, but it's being reported today that the Brightwood chain is closing down:
