Bridging Program in Australia

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Any updates guys? I saw that they postponed the OBA transition to early 2020.

Hi @Dreamlover93 yeah they postponed to early 2020. We don’t have any updates till now. Still hoping that we would be able to get slot from the schools we inquired with. Are you also waiting?

Hi guys. Does anyone of you has an update regarding new registration in AHPRA? please update me, I'm planning to apply for registration or is it okay if I will study first any nursing course in Australia and from there I will start my registration? Is it possible?

Anyone applying for a job or planning to do bridging in Australia, this blog will be a good guide for all aspiring Australian nurses.

Update on Objective Based Assessment (OBA) pathway for nurses wanting to be registered in Australia has been posted by AHPRA here.

Hi guys,

This website helped me a lot when I was still planning to live here in Oz back in 2014.

There are also group in Facebook, search Pinoy Australian Nurses. You can find every updated topic there to process your application — IELTS, PTE, Bridging to PR. :-)

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone plans to choose the OBA process instead of the bridging program? It seems like we'll be able to choose between OBA and bridging program until January 2020 (from 1st October 2019).

Also, not sure how to prepare for the OBA, some uni seem to offer programs for it. Any idea?

OBA will be offered from the 31st of January, 2020. I believe that those applicants who submit their documents to AHPRA for registration before this date will be offered to either undergo a bridging program or do OBA. Otherwise, if AHPRA accepts your completed application after this date, you will automatically be offered OBA if your application is successful. So far, I haven't seen any schools yet offering OBA. Most schools offering bridging program are valid until year 2021.

I submitted my application and received the receipt email from AHPRA last dec. 13, 2019.(AHPRA deducted 887$ from my account already) Until now I haven't received any calls from RO? yet(dec.23) I have no idea when they will contact me but it's still holiday thou. I'm very anxious with this application,

I think it took about 6 weeks for me to have an email from RO. Good luck

I want to be referred to OBA but I have no idea with the MCQ, what if I failed the test, do I still have a chance to retake it?mhow many times are we allowed to take the exam again?
