bridge program in orlando area

I took my LPN to RN program in Orlando. I went to Valencia community college. They have a one year ASN fast track (actually it was 11 Months--January to December) for LPNs, Paramedics, and Respiratory Therapists. The coursework is online (weekly assignments, discussion questions, quizzes,etc), and you have to go on campus for midterm and final exams. You have clinicals one day a week except for your preceptorship at the end and its so many hours which is usually something like 3 days a week for 6 weeks if I remember correctly. The first 6 weeks or so of the program you have a lab day each week where you have to get checked off on clinical skills. It was a good program and fairly painless, as I still worked full time as an LPN throughout the program and still managed to make almost all As and a couple of Bs at the end when I was running on empty. I would suggest it to anyone and dont regret it at all. Seminole Community College in Sanford also has a bridge program and I heard it is online now as well. HTH!

In addition to Valencia CC and Seminole CC, I would add the LPN-RN bridge at Lake Sumter CC, where you can chose which campus to attend, the one in Clermont or the one in Leesburg. U have many options, regardless where in the Orlando area you want to live. Make sure you call them all and do your homework. Some programs put you on a waiting list, some accept you in depending on GPA and HESI entrance tests. Good luck.

LUV4NURSING...i am about to apply for the LPN-RN Bridge program at VCC in September. I was wondering, you said sometime you go on campus for labs and theres clinicals. So do you need to be available twice per week or usually just once per week. I'm trying to see if I may have to make a job change as it gets closer if I get in. Thanks.
