Breaking into the ICU

Hello, All; I'm an RN who has been in LTC for the past 19 years while I raised son as a single father. Now that he is grown, I want to move towards my original goal in nursing to go to CRNA school. I know that I need to spend some time in the ICU before I can even think of CRNA school.

I have heard that there are some internships available for nurses in my situation, who have experience but who need to sharpen their skills for a more challenging position. I'm having a hard time finding one that I can get into in the Denver area.

Any experience or suggestions?

Thanks,

Steven

I know new grads who started at the VA, Denver Health, Exempla... All ICU. They may do a revised residency for you d/t your experience, that's what my hospital did for some RN's here in the NW.
