BRCC NURSING 2017

This is a thread for students who are applying in the Spring of 2017 at Baton Rouge Community College for the ASN program! Feel free to comment with questions, thoughts, or anything else that pertains to the nursing program! :)

Good luck! I'm applying for Spring 2018.. anyone have any tips for applying and what do they look for? Tips for the Hesi? TIA! (:

Hey Jesslynn! It's not a must, but if you take all of your pre-reqs at BRCC you get 5 "extra" points per class taken added to your application score (so that's a plus & something to keep in mind). They look at GPA, HESI scores mainly. The higher the HESI score the better. GPA is also pretty heavy, so shoot for a good GPA. (Can't really tell you what to shoot for because we're all waiting to see who gets in). Study for your HESI AHEAD of time, don't procrastinate. Attend the meetings, you'll get to sit down and ask the school of nursing staff whatever questions you want answered.

& its a different HESI test, in nursing school you have to take HESI tests quite often. But instead of it being like the admission HESI, its basically like a final exam. Tests you on what you learned that semester

Hey littlebit_,CNA.. Thanks for the reply..I'm taking all of my classes at BRCC so that will help. I already got the HESI practice booklet from the BRCC bookstore. I have 5 classes left then I can apply in Jan 2018 (: Good luck to you!!

Thank you :) stay active, if I get in (fingers crossed I do, 2nd time applying), ill give you a little more info as far as what the lowest/highest accepted is. I'm sure other people following this thread would do the same as well.

3.2 was the first time. But that's not why I didn't get in. I scored low low on my HESI and that's the reason I didn't get in. Stated in my letter.

oh okay, thanks for the info (: i'm taking all the prereqs before the program so I won't have to worry about any of them so hopefully my GPA will stay up.. Good Luck again!

Hi I know two people that took it and said they told me the math is really hard. They also told me the review book from the bookstore is not that great. Is this true?? Thanks
