BRCC NURSING 2016

Published

Is there anyone applying to BRCC's nursing program for Fall 2016? I would like to talk to people who are so I don't feel so lonely.

Call RKM in Livingston. It's a sliding scale clinic. Bring a check stub or two when you go. My PCP has been switched to the doctor who works there. I love them. I paid $100 for all of my titers, TB test, and CBC.

@Ja9390 Is it because you have insurance and PCP there for such a low price?

I have no insurance. They provide affordable medical, behavioral and dental care for low income patients. There's an office in Clinton as well. For my bronchitis to be treated last week it was $20 to see the doctor and like $7 for my prescription

@Ja9390 Thanks. Can you tell me the address or exact name of the clinic where you go?

It's called RKM Livingston. Google it and you'll pull the address up

Did somebody buy the insurance from NSO ($38)? Do we choose "Registered Nurse" for Profession/Area of study?

I haven't looked into it yet. Going to call my car insurance company and ask if they offer it first.

@ja9390 Do we need to do Hepatitis B Series titer? The instruction list repeats "Hepatitis B Series or a titer” under immunization tab and lab tab. I don't understand we just need to do either one or we have to do both immu and titer for HBV? thanks!

You get the titers done to see if you are immune to the vaccines you should have received as a child. Most people are immune unless they never got the shots or for some reason they didn't have enough antibodies to show positive immunity. If your titer comes back negative, then you'll get the shots. You don't get both at the same time. I was immune to everything.

I got the Hepatitis B vaccine today. Should I still do the titer for HBV? Thanks you!

I would think not. Titers are only used to see if an individual is immune to a certain disease. They can become immune via a vaccine or by contracting the disease and developing antibodies that way. The school accepts the titers as "proof" so that we won't have to go and get booster shots for all that stuff. If you just recently got the shot, there's no reason to check you for immunity against Hep B
