Bound to Columbia ETP?

Published

I am applying to Columbia EtP program and the impression I get is that you cannot go elsewhere for the Masters portion. That once you start, you must continue into a specialty. I just heard from a friend though, that once you get your Bachelors after the year long accelerated program, you can go on to any other program to get a Masters and specialize in NP, etc. Is that true, that the program is not mandatory to be taken all the way through?

Any other program=any other school.

I would suggest getting in touch with the program director at Columbia or the admissions office. Those who reply may or may not have the most accurate, timely information and I would hate for you to make a decision based on the advice of strangers. :) Good luck to you!

I went to their info session a couple of months ago and they touched upon this. The ETP program is specifically designed for students to do both their BSN and MSN at Columbia. They very much frown upon students leaving after completing their BSN. They stated they very carefully and thoroughly check applications to make sure those applying have intentions of staying through the entire ETP program. Now, they can't force you to stay after you receive your BSN, but it is specifically designed for students who are staying the full length of the program.
