Boston New Grads

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi everyone,

Just wondering what new grads in Boston were making an hour, and how easy or difficult it was to get hired.

thanks!

it's difficult to get hired in the boston hospitals...

unless you have a minimum of a bsn.

and even then, the hospitals are pretty maxed out.

you need to find out when their new grad orientations are- 2x/yr

the brigham's pays best...starting low 30's+/hr.

other hospitals start mid 20's.

best of luck!

Im from Boston originally, grew up in JP, but out in Denver for nursing school. Rumor going around class today about a nurse strike going on at one of the hospitals in which the nurses are asking for $52 an hour. Do you know anything about this?

I started as a new grad almost a year ago at Beth Israel and when I started, their new grad pay was 24.75/hr..but now I think it's like 25.75 or 26.50ish an hour.

ETA: yes it is hard finding a job here in Boston....and I agree with Snowstorm, pay is not up to par with cost of living...

Boston sucks 25.00 per hour is nothing, considering cost of living in Boston. And nurse to patient ratio is usually 1:6. Yes, it's hard to find a first job for a new grad in Boston.
