Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had any advice or ideas to what exactly this course is (or what BC is looking for exactly) and where you know of in the Boston area that offers this particular brand of Chemistry:
Life Science Chemistry w/Lab or Organic Chemistry w/Lab
General Chemistry will not be accepted
I understand the Orgo. part, but Life Sci. Chem? I need to start finding places that offer these courses and Bunker Hill currently does not. Any ideas or, have you have to take this over the summer in Boston as well? If so, where?
Any help would be most appreciated!

Just letting you guys know, I spoke to Maureen and she said we only need Chem. 102 and often enough, if you mention the program, the teachers will allow you to only take 102! So, that class from CCC Online and the one at Regis are both acceptable! Whoo!
I also just that acceptance letter and answer form, nothing else comes until you send the deposit in, or so I believe.
I did the same and am hoping its that 5 week chunk as well! It shouldn't be too bad though, I've heard Regis moves at a good pace and isn't overwhelming, especially at 2 times a week which is a nice break from other schools which do M-Th (NYU, BHCC) in the mornings! Now we just have to contact the teacher and ask if we can jump in without the first half of the class!
Are you sending in your deposit/accepting BC, MNGirl?
Yup I turned down University of Illinois at Chicago's GEP, banking that I would get into BC...and I did! I have to mail it tomorrow (I think it is due next Tuesday)? And then hopefully BC can offer me some financial aid! It's cheaper than other schools but definitely not cheap!! My name's Caitlin, btw.
BCgradnurse, do you have any time whatsoever for down time, going to the gym, or the occasional night out? or is it simply just study study study. I just want to get an idea what I'm in for haha.MNGirl, all I got with my letter was the acceptance letter itself with the amount per credit stated in it and the form to send back to BC telling whether or not you will accept admission for the fall of 2009.
First of all, I have to submit my disclaimer; I am older than most of the students in the program, am married with 2 teenagers, and live out in the 'burbs, about 45 minutes by car from BC, so I'm not really tuned in to the social life of the typical BC ME student. However, I do work 14 hours a week and I find that to be manageable along with school. I am able to get to the gym a couple of days per week and could probably get there more if I made the effort! You'll definitely be able to go out on the weekends-maybe not both nights, but one of them. We had one guy who started the program the same year I did, and he attempted to keep up his busy "pre-school" social life. It didn't work, and he left after the first semester. You'll figure out what you can and cannot manage. You do need to have some down time from school or else you'll go crazy. You're just not going to have a lot of it!!!
Great! I'll be seeing you in September Caitlin, maybe even over the summer during those pre-reqs! And I'm Jenn, mine was due the 17th and I just sent it out today, can't wait to get the packet.
THanks for the advice and sharing your experience BCgradnurse. I've never been one to have a crazy night life but I sure do enjoy my free time and traveling a lot. I knew I would have to cut back on the weekend trips, I'll just have to remember "just two years" I also will be living 15 minutes outside of BC by T Train and will not be working during the semester. I really respect that you worked and had quite the commute and managed to make it through, well done!
I will just have to enjoy every second of free time I have now because I think it ends with this semester!
Caitlin, any idea to when colleges begin posting their summer schedules? I've never taken a summer class so I'm not too sure what is normal.
thanks so much for this info BCgradnurse, I really appreciate it!
My name is Molly btw, and I can't wait to meet you guys - maybe even during the prereqs since I'm already taking night courses at Regis! Its going to be hard, but SO worth it and hopefully we'll meet alot of good friends along the way!
and ps - my uncle has season tickets to the football games, so maybe well have time to catch at least one?? haha
That's the spirit, it really will be worth it and you all sound very supportive so we will have a hard time of it, sometimes, but we'll make it through! And football, don't get me started...I was lucky enough to snatch seats to the Superbowl in Tampa this year (I go to school in St. Pete, 30 minutes south of the stadium) an it was the best day of my life, after my acceptance into BC of course.
Yep, we'll just have to figure out ways to de-stress together!
How do you like Regis, Molly? Where exactly in Boston is it?
ThisAdventure, Regis is pretty good. I work 9-5 and then take A&P 2 and Micro at night (10 hours for each class) so its kind of a drag, but I guess I should get used to not having a life and working hard! Seriously though I can't beleive we will be NPs in just 2 years, thats pretty crazy! I've taken A&P I last semester and now I'm taking Micro there this semester and A&P 2 at Mass Bay. I wanted to take A&P II at Regis, but I couldnt due to scheduling conflicts. I would also recommend Salem State for taking Orgo. I met a girl at the Yale interview who said she took it there and they don't require a prereq and that it wasn't so bad (I think its also alot cheaper than Regis). Are you taking all 4 courses over the summer? Are you taking some online? I may try and take the ccconline course or I may just see if I can stay at Regis. So you go to school in Florida or are you in Jersey? Are you an undergrad? Haha woah look at me with all teh questions! I guess I'm just excited to get to know some of my future classmates!
